In this month's session our main theme will be on the concept of Grace. "Aletheia" is an ancient greek word which means "truth", "disclosure" or "reality". In our Aletheia writing group we want to use our writing to explore and express the spiritual reality that we feel in and around us. This month our main theme will be thinking about the subject of Fulfillment. Together we will look at some Spiritual writing, poetry and think about it in the context of popular culture. The format of the group will be: Start with nibbles and a drink (soft or hot). A short set of readings Discussion around themes Pick one or more "prompts" based on what speaks to you from what we have read together. Some time individually to WRITE... Sharing time! We're looking for stories on the theme of “Growth.” Stories about seeds you've planted. Ways you've grown and matured as a person (or times you've completely refused to!). From spiritual growth to the growth of skills and hobbies; from new relationships to new horizons - growth means something different to everyone, and all stories are welcome - however you interpret the theme. We’re not looking for well-honed, perfect performances. You don’t need to be a performer at all. We’re creating an atmosphere to share authentic experiences from our lives; where we can listen to each other’s experiences and laugh, cry, jump and shout through the shared empathy of telling stories. All we ask is that you open yourself up to stories that surprise you. You might want to just come and listen. We’d love you to! Why tell a story if nobody is listening? There will be spaces throughout the night to jump up and tell your own, if you’re suddenly inspired, but never any pressure. The night will be hosted by Brave Words Artistic Director Chris Singleton – a storyteller trained in Playback Theatre and Improvisation – who will create a fun, respectful, relaxed atmosphere, perfect for communal storytelling. With being at Hoc Loco, you can even have a glass of wine and a cheeseboard while you listen. Sign up to tell a 5 minute story by reserving a "Storyteller Ticket" or by emailing chris @ bravewords.co.uk. 7.30 start. Finish 9.30 latest. In each podcast, Tara asks her guests about their relationships with poetry, their favourite poets, and the ways they use poetry to think about wider issues that relate to the world we live in. The conversations are informal and wide-ranging, but they all try to ‘demystify’ poetry – challenging and removing some of the barriers to poetry that we often find in education, community and society.
